Congratulations on your new job! Where will you start working?
Thank you! I had quite a few offers to choose from, but in the end I chose DIzzy Data, where I will work as a Software Developer.
What were you doing before you signed up for our course?
I worked in the financial sector. I spent 10 years in this sector before I came to the conclusion that it was no longer for me. It wasn’t my passion, so I decided to make a change. As a kid, I liked playing video games and using the Internet, but I had never explored programming as a career, even though it appealed to me. In the 1990s, there weren’t as many possibilities as there are now. I thought it was time to explore this field because of the opportunities it offers.
Was it difficult to make the decision to change professions?Actually, it wasn’t that difficult. I knew I didn’t want to stay in the financial sector and it was something I had been contemplating for a while, so it was pretty easy. I took a couple of short courses online to get some basic knowledge, but I wanted to find something more intensive.
Why did Ubiqum stand out as the best option?
I found out about Ubiqum by reading the newspaper and since I already knew I wanted to get into programming, it was exactly what I was looking for. It stood out as the best option because of the length of the course and the price. I read the curriculum and liked that Ubiqum offered full-stack training through a very practical methodology.
Do you think our “Learning by Doing” methodology has been effective?
Yes, no doubt. I had some previous experience learning this way from when I did online courses. However, what’s great about doing a classroom course at Ubiqum is that you have the help and support of the tutors. Inevitably, there are times when you get stuck, but they are there to guide you.
Why would you recommend Ubiqum?
I would recommend Ubiqum because of the extensive curriculum and the fact that it aims to make you a professional developer. Also, there is a very good atmosphere; there is always a good rapport between students and tutors and you can tell that they are 100% involved in your development. But it’s not just the tutors, it’s the breakfasts every Friday, you can ask anything to anyone-everyone is very open and friendly. In a master’s program, for example, you only have one professor; here, you have the help of the whole team.
Anything else you would like to add?
I had a great time. Some moments were more difficult than others, but the tutors were always there to help you. I look forward to continue learning and reinforcing the knowledge and skills I have already gained.
