What were you doing before you signed up for our course?

Before starting the course, I spent a few months looking for a job. Although I had a degree in mathematics and some programming experience, it was not enough to get one in data analytics. I had done, on my own, some small projects in machine learning, but the feedback after interviews was always that I didn’t have enough real experience.

Why did you think it was the right time in your life to sign up for the course?

I was seriously contemplating studying for a master’s degree, but I was worried that after a year and 10,000€, employers would still tell me I didn’t have the right experience. When I found Ubiqum and saw that the course was based on real projects, I knew this was the course for me.

What were your expectations and what did you want to get out of the program?

I already had programming experience and had the confidence to do projects, so what I was looking for was exposure to real projects and being able to talk to tutors who knew how things were done in real professional practice. Of course, the main thing I was looking for was to get a job at the end of the course. And that happened immediately after finishing it.

What were your doubts before starting the program?

I had no real doubts since I had already worked on programming projects, so I knew I could learn in an independent way. I wasn’t worried about my job prospects either as Ubiqum offered a 50/50 payment plan whereby you only pay 50% of the tuition and the other 50% when you find a job. I knew that a business would never offer this deal if people didn’t get jobs when they finished the course.

Why did Ubiqum stand out as the best option?

It is one of the few courses in data analysis that has employment as its top priority. I was not interested in learning for the sake of learning more theoretical concepts. I needed a job and only wanted to work on things that would help me accomplish this goal. It is also a longer course, 20 weeks, compared to other intensive programs. Courses that are only 10 or 12 weeks long are too short to be effective; I wanted something that would allow me to go deeper.

Do you think our “Learning by Doing” methodology has been effective?

Yes, the course ended on a Friday and I got the job offer the following Wednesday afternoon. I am now using everything I learned in my new job.

How useful have you found our career placement service?

I was looking for a job outside Spain, so it was not that useful for me compared to other people. However, it was helpful to get feedback on my resume.

Why would you recommend Ubiqum?

I would recommend Ubiqum for its focus on employment and the “Learning by Doing” methodology. Aside from the skills you learn, the projects you do look good on your resume and you have a lot to talk about in an interview.
