Congratulations on your new job! Where are you going to work?

I have been hired at a consultancy called Everis. What I like about this company is the increasing progression they offer to Junior Developers, they continue to give you training.

What were you doing before you signed up for our course?

I was working in a laboratory in a clinic in Uruguay, doing analysis. Since my father is an engineer and works in programming, like my brother, I was exposed to this world and it quickly caught my attention. When there were programmers in the lab to install a new computer system, I was always part of the process and I realized how much I liked it. The technology industry is constantly moving forward, there is no limit, and that is very motivating.

What was your main concern before you started?

I was quite hesitant because I was going to start something totally from scratch and, although I had already read about the methodology, I didn’t know exactly what to expect. I didn’t know if I would be able to learn this way, but, looking back now, having found a job, of course it was possible.

Why did you feel Ubiqum was the best choice?

A person I know with great experience in the technology sector recommended Ubiqum Code Academy. Since I totally trusted his judgment, I felt that I didn’t have to look for other courses.

Do you consider that our “Learning by doing” methodology has been effective?

I love it! I think it brings out the best in everyone. Since we are all used to a totally different learning style and educational logic, it takes a while to get used to it. You have to learn how to learn on your own and you become an expert in Google searches. Of course, the help of tutors is indispensable. This hands-on way of learning finds a way to imprint what you have learned in your brain in a deep and lasting way, making it very easy to transfer what you have learned to your job.

Why would you recommend Ubiqum?

I would recommend it not only for the methodology and curriculum, but also for the very positive atmosphere – I love it. You feel at home, both with the tutors and the other students. Coming from another country, this has been fantastic.
