What were you doing before you signed up for our course?

I was unemployed. I had been working as a software tester for SysteLab but was suddenly laid off. I could have looked for something similar but it gave me the push I needed to get into what I really wanted to do.

What motivated you to start programming?

My goal was to become a Java developer.

How did you find us and why did you decide to sign up for our course?

After becoming unemployed, I was researching intensive programming programs and came across Ubiqum along with a couple of others. I ended up choosing Ubiqum because the course seemed doable and, since I wanted to find work as a Java developer, the type of content was perfect. The other intensive programs I looked at offered courses that were half the length of Ubiqum’s and it didn’t seem like enough time to learn everything there was to learn. If you don’t want to feel completely overwhelmed and without time to fully understand Java and other material, Ubiqum is the right choice.

Did you have any concerns before starting the course?

I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it to the end. I was worried I wasn’t going to make it, but after getting a job just 3 months after starting the program, I knew I had what it took.

Do you think our methodology works?

For me, yes, of course, I already had experience with technology and had been programming for years. I really liked the “Learning by Doing” methodology because you came here to work and it prepared you a lot for what awaited you as a professional programmer. We had daily meetings and had to produce reports, plus many other tasks that I will have to deal with in my new job.

Why would you recommend Ubiqum?

Mostly because of its methodology and because the duration and content of the course is feasible and prepares you for the job. When I interviewed for the job where I am about to start, the company knew about Ubiqum and respected the investment I had made in my future by attending an intensive programming program; I am sure this helped me get the position.
