Congratulations on your new job! Where will you start working?

Thanks, I’m really looking forward to it! It’s a company called GetApp, a platform for discovering business apps.

What were you doing before you signed up for our course?

I had finished a degree in Mechanical Engineering and then I did an internship and stayed at that company for a year.

However, I was not entirely satisfied with the result or the knowledge I gained. Honestly, I didn’t see myself working in mechanical engineering. I saw that there was a high demand for developers so I started looking into this as a career option.

Why did Ubiqum stand out as the best option?

I did some research and found some university courses, but they were not as intensive as Ubiqum. I liked that it lasted 5 months because I wanted to start working as soon as possible while learning all the relevant technical and practical skills. I started 4 days after the course started because the same day I came to talk to Ubiqum I had already decided that this was the place for me and I wanted to jump into the program as soon as possible.

What was your main concern before starting the course?

Although I had some C++ experience from my undergraduate degree, I had very little practical knowledge of programming; I had never fully understood its practical use.

Do you think our “Learning by Doing” methodology has been effective?

At uni, I spent 4 months studying a subject and never got to see its practical use. In Ubiqum’s Java program, in a few weeks I could see the tangible results of what I was working on and this motivates you a lot. Contrary to my experience at uni, now I go home or to the library and in my free time I learn more about a program or a programming language that we have seen in the course.

Why would you recommend Ubiqum?

I started here with almost zero knowledge about programming and in 5 months I have learned a lot and found a job. I am the proof that it works!

I feel at home here and I want to come here every day to work hard because I enjoy it. I never felt like this at uni.

The atmosphere is great; I will really miss the tutors and friends I have made here. I’m glad to have found something that I have a lot of passion for; I can really see myself working in programming and web development in the long term future.
