What were you doing before you signed up for our course?
My previous experience was in audiovisual communication. Before signing up for Ubiqum’s Java Web Developer course, or even before considering a change of sector, I was out of work and looking for new opportunities in my field. However, I quickly realized that none of the job offers interested me… or, if they did, the salary discouraged me. What I realize now is that I never had a real passion for working in that industry. In web development I feel the complete opposite. I am so passionate about working in web development that, when I was looking for a job, I couldn’t stop sending out CVs for all the opportunities that were out there – there are so many. Honestly, I have never felt the motivation that I feel now after completing the course and entering the world of development.
What was your main concern before you started?
I had the idea that, if it’s not something you’ve been doing since you were little, you’re not going to be able to do it. I had also taken a look at some programming languages and taken some courses, but it seemed impossible to learn how to program and I would drop the courses before completing them. It wasn’t until I came across Ubiqum that I realized that anyone, of any age, can learn to program and become a Web Developer, even with Java.
Why did you feel Ubiqum was the best choice?
I liked that the course consisted of five months of learning, and that you didn’t have to learn everything in two months with all the exhaustion that this would produce. In 5 months it is totally feasible.
Do you consider that our “Learning by doing” methodology has been effective?
Yes, it has been very effective and I will continue to learn this way. At Everis, I know they use the same methodology, so perfect!
Would you recommend Ubiqum and why?
The atmosphere is great!
Why do you like programming so much?
I feel that I will really evolve a lot in this sector, and that’s because I enjoy it so much. I’ve never felt this way before, not even when I finished my studies at university. I love working in web development because you overcome so many mental challenges and you have to control your emotions. I love it because of the frustration – the frustration of not being able to do your programming and not understanding why. Also for the fact that you will spend five hours looking for the solution to something that seems absurd to the rest of the world but, when you come up with the solution, it’s amazing – like creating a button that takes you to another page when you click on it.
