Congratulations on your new job! Where will you start working?
Thank you! I will be working in an investment company here in Barcelona, helping them to develop Apps.
What were you doing before you signed up for our course?
I have more than 10 years of experience in telecommunications, but I wanted to change profession and enter the world of programming as I had always been curious and saw that there was a high demand for developers.
On a superficial level, I had an idea about the structure and systems used in programming, but I had no practical experience so I started learning to program on my own. I was learning about Java and found Ubiqum Code Academy.
Why did Ubiqum stand out as the best option?
In my company, we had to create our own training course with the “Learning by Doing” model because we saw that the people coming to the company did not have the right experience for the work that had to be done. We saw an impressive improvement after implementing this type of training. I am a fan.
I chose Ubiqum because of the methodology and the duration of the program. Some intensive programs only last 2 months and this is too short a time. I wanted a program that went deeper and lasted longer. I read a lot of reviews from former students and saw that everyone was happy with the experience here so I signed up.
What was your main concern before starting the program?
I was wondering if 5 months would be enough, but now that I am about to start working, I have no doubts.
Do you think our “Learning by Doing” methodology has been effective?
I think the methodology helps you a lot because you never stop practicing, making mistakes and learning from them. It works because when you finish the course and you have to face the real world, you think you can handle it well and it’s not such a big transition because it’s what you’ve been doing for the previous 5 months. If you put your mind to it, you can learn a lot.
Would you recommend Ubiqum? If yes, why?
I would recommend it 100%. You have to be committed and know that it is your responsibility to put in the effort and commitment. The tutors are here to guide you and support you when you are stuck, but in the end it is you who has to have the motivation.
I have some colleagues who came here with no programming experience at all and what they are producing is very good! It will work for you if you get involved and committed.
The best thing about a course at Ubiqum is that you know you will be able to solve any problem you encounter on the job. You gain confidence in yourself and your abilities. You have a deadline and a plan and you stick to it.
