Congratulations on your new job, where will you start working?

I will be working as a data analyst for Hewlett-Packard (HP). It is a very large company and I have no doubt that it will present me with many challenges, so I have high expectations.

What were you doing before you signed up for our course?

I was a sales engineer; I worked for an industrial automation and power tool company. I spent over a decade doing this successfully until I decided I wanted to change careers.

Why did it seem like the right time in your life to sign up for the course?

Well, the world evolves and after ten years I realized that I had to be brave and take the next step in my career.

What was your main concern before starting the course?

I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to adapt. I was very used to factory-to-factory driving, which is a completely different lifestyle, but I knew I had to at least try it out. I quickly realized that sitting with a laptop all day was pretty fun.

Why did Ubiqum stand out as the best option?

I was contemplating studying a university course, but they all took too long and started in October, following the academic year. I needed to start learning immediately as it was not feasible for me to spend so much time unemployed. Ubiqum was the only site that offered a course in Data Analytics that started in March, at the exact time I needed it. I also saw that Ubiqum had a team of people dedicated to job search counseling for their students after the course. Of course, this was very motivating for me because it meant less risk.

What were your expectations and what did you want to get out of the program?

Everything has been as I expected, more or less, although I was surprised to meet so many people, from so many different fields and with so many different experiences, facing new challenges. Ubiqum is a new world and provides a very good environment in which to work, strive and learn.

Do you think our “Learning by Doing” methodology has been effective?

Extremely effective. The program is unique and focuses on simulating real data analysis environments, so I knew Ubiqum would be perfect for me.

How useful have you found our job placement service?

It is a very helpful and well-structured service; in fact, the company that hired me has previously hired other Ubiqum students. Having these affiliated partners hiring students helped me find a job quickly, so I am very happy with the support the job placement team gave me.

Would you recommend Ubiqum? If yes, why?

Absolutely. If I had to give advice to someone who is in the same position I was in, I would tell them that the IT industry is a world full of opportunities and it’s growing all the time. So, if you feel you need to acquire technical skills and specifically data analysis skills, Ubiqum is the best place. Although I have already found a new job, with the skills and experience I have gained, I am confident that I could apply for any job. And that it opens up a career path that I see no limit to.
