The results have been amazing: I have found a job with a salary that is double what I was earning as an English teacher!

What were you doing before you signed up for our course?

When I came to Barcelona, I worked as an English teacher for two years and, before that, I had worked in a startup managing client accounts, and that’s where I got to know web development. This inspired me to get into programming because I liked the sound of it.

Why did it seem like the right time in your life to sign up for the course?

Before signing up for the Ubiqum course, I was contemplating going back to college. I considered studying history or anthropology but, after thinking twice, I didn’t think it was a worthwhile investment of time and money. I looked at some online programming academies and did some studying myself, but I started seeing more and more ads for Ubiqum and thought it was what I was looking for.

What were your expectations and what did you want to get out of the program?

I didn’t know what to expect: if we would have to study a lot or if it would be very intensive. But from the first day, it was a relaxed atmosphere; obviously we had goals, but I never found it stressful. I also think I was very lucky with the group because we became very close and now we help each other.

Why did Ubiqum stand out as the best option?

I didn’t look for other programming academies and I didn’t need to compare with another site, because after reading all the positive reviews on Switchup, I was convinced.

Do you think our “Learning by Doing” methodology has been effective?

I thought the “Learn by Doing” methodology was great because as a developer in the real world, learning this way equips you with the skills to adapt to any situation and learn any programming language. Before Ubiqum, I never thought I would be confident enough to accomplish this.

How useful have you found our Career Placement service?

It helped me a lot, especially with the transition between learning for 5 months and implementing this in a real job. For example, I had interviews with 4 people, something I had never experienced before. Being prepared for such difficult interviews where the technical side is just as important can be very intimidating, so having the team of coaches made it much easier.

Why would you recommend Ubiqum?

It is a very pleasant and motivating environment to work in. You have your mentors and team leaders, who are very supportive, but at the same time they don’t “hold your hand”. The Ubiqum experience really feels like a real work environment, being in a team and working together towards a goal. When I see how much I have learned in these five months, it is really incredible! I have made a great career change and now I can see a bright and promising future. I would definitely recommend Ubiqum.
