What were you doing before you signed up for our course?

I was working at Deloitte in the Finance Department but since I already knew I wanted to work with data at a deeper level, I decided to take a sabbatical to do the Ubiqum program in data analytics. Now that the course is over, I will return to the company but I will be working in the department that works with data analytics.

Why did you think it was the right time in your life to sign up for the course?

I had experience working for a technology startup in Colombia as a statistician. However, I had no experience as a programmer nor did I know how to extract data. Here in the program, I was given the task of creating an algorithm based on the data provided to me to predict the results of sports matches. I really liked it. In Germany, my home country, I was working with accounting. Although I was working with a lot of data, I wanted to take my work to the next level and deepen my knowledge in data analysis and big data.

What were your concerns before starting the program?

I was trying to find the best course in data analysis for me: location, price and duration were the important criteria for me. I did a lot of research on where to go but, of course, I was afraid that after searching so hard I would not find the result I wanted.

Do you think our “Learning by Doing” methodology has been effective?

100%. Ha sido muy efectiva. No te pueden enseñar cómo programar; hay un límite de teoría que puedes saber antes de simplemente lanzarte a la tarea. Creo que funcionó muy bien y aprendí mucho.

How useful have you found our Job Placement service?

I studied business so I already had a pretty good LinkedIn profile, but a variety of things were very relevant to me, for example, they offered a new way to prepare your resume and this will serve me well in the future when I change professions. Even though I am going back to my company, I now have the knowledge there for when I want to make the change.

Would you recommend Ubiqum? If yes, why?

I learned a lot, so I would definitely recommend Ubiqum. Now that I have experienced the “Learn by Doing” methodology and know how to program using R, I think I can easily learn to use Python independently, whereas before I had no idea where to start.
