You’ve graduated, congratulations! How’s the job search going?

I have been applying for jobs for the last two months of the Data Analytics course and I have received a lot of positive feedback and many job interviews. A few days ago, I received and accepted an interesting job offer in Finland for a 6 month internship in data analytics.

What were you doing before you signed up for our course?

I graduated in Mechanical Engineering in July 2017 and wanted to start my career in the field of data analytics/data science. Being a recent college graduate, it was difficult to enter the job market in data related fields because I lacked practical knowledge and concrete projects.

I found Ubiqum Code Academy looking for a master’s degree in data science. When I read that I would be working on projects with real data sets and business cases that I could use to build my own portfolio, Ubiqum stood out as the perfect choice for me.

Also, as I was already confident with my theoretical background, I was hoping to gain more practical knowledge, which was provided by Ubiqum.

What were your doubts before starting the program?

I was afraid it would be too demanding and intensive, but this was not the case. I say that in a positive way! The complexity of the course increases gradually and I was able to finish most of the assignments on or even before the due dates. Realmemte, when you finish, you realize that you have learned a lot but everything has been in a progressive and very structured way.

Why did Ubiqum stand out as the best option?

I am glad I chose Ubiqum instead of studying a theoretical university master’s degree because I have gained practical knowledge in data analysis, which I would never have obtained by doing a master’s degree. My goal was to learn practical skills that would allow me to find a job and continue working on my own projects. Ubiqum Code Academy gave me a good foundation for this and now many doors have opened for me.

Do you think our “Learning by Doing” methodology has been effective?

Although it was sometimes difficult at specific times when my basic knowledge was not sufficient, overall the methodology was very effective. I learned how to seek out my sources when I lacked knowledge on a particular topic and was able to complete my projects.

How useful have you found our Career Placement service?

The career placement team was very helpful and always available to answer my questions. I have to say that I really enjoyed being able to talk to other Ubiqum students, learning from their mistakes and listening to their advice. I did my own research on how to write a resume and cover letter, as well as how to conduct myself during interviews, before the career placement program started, so I just needed a little support in this area. However, it is very helpful for people who don’t have a lot of experience or who come from a different field. Apart from preparing for the interviews, they also organize “hiring days” where you meet the companies and have the first interviews.

Why would you recommend Ubiqum?

I would recommend Ubiqum Code Academy to anyone who is really interested in gaining skills in the field of data analysis and is not just trying to find a job because they have the name of a course on their resume.

My experience was amazing! I have acquired new skills and the course has allowed me, through the “Learning by Doing” methodology, to continue learning myself. Also, as a result of doing the course, I have had many job interviews and in the end I was offered an opportunity that I accepted. The environment is great; it has the atmosphere of a startup and I had the chance to meet and work with people from many different countries, backgrounds and studios.
