ToggleAt Ubiqum we take learning very seriously and we use an advanced and sophisticated methodology, based on cognitive science, of great effectiveness and efficiency. Here are the fundamentals of a unique, innovative and highly disruptive methodology.
Instead of lectures, we work on projects that simulate real-life situations that the student will encounter one day in his or her job. The projects are organized into tasks, very structured, that start out easy and become more challenging. So that if you are new to this discipline, you can learn from scratch and be ready for a technological job at the end.

At Ubiqum Code Academy we know that learning occurs when students face specific tasks in a relevant context similar to what they would find in their real professional life. We create projects that simulate these situations. These projects are designed to look and feel like the real work performed by software developers or data analysts in today’s technology industry. The projects are structured in tasks that start simple and gain in complexity as the course progresses. So even students with no experience in the field can get started without difficulty.

Our way of teaching is completely different from traditional schools. We change the way teachers work, what students learn and how we check if they are learning.
The one thing our mentors don’t do is what mentees would expect. Lecture. Our mentors are not simply teachers; they guide students through the program as a project manager would. They make sure that each student completes their assignments by learning what they need to advance in the course. They are there to help students think for themselves, help them resolve doubts, guide them in starting assignments and give them the necessary feedback on the quality of their work and how to improve it. They are a personal and continuous support during the whole learning process until they reach their goals.
The professional world has many different facets, processes, tools, concepts …. that are mixed and that it is impossible to learn in isolation. Our main goal is to train students to be able to use what they learn in Ubiqum in their future professional life. We do this by having our programs simulate real-life professional tasks. This not only helps companies get the skilled professionals they need, but also keeps students motivated by understanding why things are done, seeing the relevance of what they learn, and seeing day-to-day progress.
The methods used in traditional schools involve a lot of passive listening (master class), some decontextualized practice and taking exams or tests to see the degree of progress. But reality and experience tell us that passive listening, studying and taking exams are of little use when you start working. With our 100% hands-on, project-based approach, we make sure that what you learn is useful in your job, from day one.
Our students show a high capacity for adaptation at the beginning of their new professional careers. This ability does not go unnoticed by the companies that choose to hire our students, as they recognize this quality. In conventional educational settings, performance is evaluated primarily through exams. However, in the real world of work, what really matters is the quality of your work. At Ubiqum, we take a professional approach. The activities you complete during the course serve as clear indicators of each student’s progress and learning. Our mentors observe and analyze each student’s performance to provide professional guidance and support you in your progress in the course and in your learning.
Undoubtedly, the transformation of teachers into mentors is a crucial aspect of our methodology. To an outside observer, this change might seem insignificant, simply a change in titles, but in reality, it makes a substantial difference in roles and approaches. Let’s explore what makes mentors different from traditional teachers.
First, it is important to note that mentors do not operate in a vacuum; they work within the rich learning environment that our product development team has carefully created. This environment includes well-organized, systematically designed projects and assignments that will guide the student’s work in a very orderly fashion.
These projects are similar to the type of work students will do in their future jobs. We want students to learn by doing, which will help them become successful professionals at the end of the course.
Our mentors have extensive technical knowledge of what we teach and are also experts in how we teach it. Most of them have also been through our courses, so they understand what difficulties students may encounter and how they can help them.
Mentees can talk to mentors every day at any time. Each day begins with a meeting where the mentee discusses their progress on the assignment and asks for help if they need it. Our mentors are there to make sure that students are supported and succeed in the course. There is no limit to the support a student receives from their personal mentor.
At Ubiqum we are very thorough and careful in our approach to work. Other schools say that they apply learning by doing but we suggest you to check if they really comply with the basic standards we have explained here. We do not offer boring lectures in which the teacher speaks at the same time to all the students even if half of them are lost in the explanation, nor do we teach new concepts or theories without the context in which they are to be used. Our method is based on practicing and practicing, performing real tasks as part of well-planned projects in a rich and complex learning environment, with the help of a personal mentor. It may sound simple, but it’s hard to do without knowing exactly how to do it.
Our project-based learning methodology is based on the principles of the Constructivist and Dynamic Memory models of learning taught by the Cognitive Sciences. We believe that true understanding arises from active participation, a philosophy evident in sports training, where doing is fundamental. Similarly, in programming and data analysis, learning by doing is fundamental. Our programs are meticulously designed to immerse students in a virtual but realistic professional environment, allowing them to progress from simple tasks to solving highly complex situations. Ubiqum’s programs are demanding.
Our program design is based on industry requirements obtained from experts. We analyze the skill sets required for specific professional roles and create projects that guide students from entry-level to highly proficient.
